Screening
The Aventro score, your Fund Score beside it, and Fund Fit.
Screening is the first read of a deal, and it gives two scores. The Aventro score says how strong the company is, the same at every fund. Fund Fit says how well it fits your fund. They answer different questions, so a strong company outside your mandate shows as exactly that. Where your Fund DNA sets its own levels, your Fund Score sits beside the Aventro score: the same company, weighed your way. A screen uses one screening from your plan.
Fund Fit
Fund Fit reads the deal against your Fund DNA. Each criterion is shown met or missed, so a deal outside your mandate says why it is outside, not just that it scored low. Each score names the Fund DNA version it used.
The Aventro score
- A weighted roll-up of scored modules. Each module scores against a rubric of sub-factors, and each sub-factor ties back to the evidence behind it. No evidence, no credit.
- Missing data is not a zero. A section the company has not filled in is left out of its module, not scored as nothing. What it lowers is the confidence in the score.
- Verifying a claim against an outside source is what raises the score. A claim with nothing behind it earns nothing.
- Weighed by the kind of company. Therapeutics, medical devices, diagnostics, digital health, fintech, consumer brands, climate and energy, and hardware each carry their own weights by stage, and some areas mean something else for them: for a device company, traction is its clearance and clinical evidence, and legal is its regulatory pathway. Software keeps Aventro’s defaults. The kind comes from the company’s sectors; a company with none set is classified from its documents when its run starts.
Your weights
Your Fund DNA sets how much each area counts for each kind of company you back, on four levels. Those levels make your Fund Score: the same area scores as the Aventro Score, weighed your way, shown beside it on your pipeline and on each company’s Overview, and sortable. The Aventro Score itself is the same at every fund, and it is the number a company sees and a shared report carries. Change the levels under Settings, Scoring and valuation, which shows how your pipeline would re-rank before you save; saving updates every Fund Score at once. On plans that include custom scoring weights, the numbers per module and sub-factor are there too, under Exact weights, and apply to every kind of company alike. The shipped defaults are a calibrated starting point. Fund Fit is separate again: it measures the company against your mandate, not its strength.
Decision support
The scores feed your decision and explain themselves factor by factor. Aventro never recommends an investment.
