Fund DNA

What your fund backs and how it weighs a deal. Fund Fit and your Fund Score read it.

Fund DNA is your fund, written down. Its mandate is the stages, sectors, cheque size, geography and business models you back, and the ones you never do. Beside it sit the return a deal has to promise and how much each part of a company counts when it is scored. Every Fund Fit is judged against it, and every Aventro score is weighed by it.

Setting it

The first time someone who may set it arrives, Aventro AI reads what your fund publishes and drafts it with you, in a conversation, each line footnoted to where it was read. A fund with no website starts from its answers instead. Until a person confirms it, it is marked as a draft and says who drafted it. You can also edit it by hand, term by term, under Organization.

While you edit, your open pipeline is read again against the draft, so you can see what a change moves before you save it.

What decides it

The conversation ends with one choice for each kind of company you back: for a medical device, say, whether the cleared device counts for more than the one with paying pilots. Each answer sets how much each area counts in your Fund Score for that kind of company, on four levels: Less, Standard, More and Most. Aventro’s defaults stand until you choose, and you can change the levels later under Settings, Scoring and valuation, where your pipeline is re-ranked before you save. The Aventro Score stays the same at every fund. See Screening.

Versions

Saving adds a new version under the name of the person who saved it. Every Fund Fit names the version it was judged on, so changing the Fund DNA never rewrites an old score.

Exclusions are gates

An exclusion is not a deduction. A deal that matches one is flagged with the rule it breaches, and one the facts cannot clear is left for a person to judge. Approving a deal outside the mandate is its own permission.

Who can edit it

An organization admin, or a member an admin gave the Fund DNA permission. See People and permissions.
