The European Patent Office’s worldwide database. Each claimed number is looked up individually against the issuing authority’s record, so a patent that exists but is filed by a different applicant is reported as such rather than passing as verified. A claimed trial phase either has an NCT, ISRCTN or EU CT number, a registered phase and a named sponsor, or it does not. Matched on the sponsor record rather than a keyword, because a registry search also returns trials a company merely collaborates on; a trial on both registries is counted once.

The three routes a device reaches the US market by: 510(k) clearances, De Novo grants and PMA approvals filed under the company name, each with the device and decision date, any recall the company initiated with its FDA class, and the adverse event reports (MAUDE) filed against its devices, counted by kind. And whether a drug the company's own patents, papers or product description say the product carries is FDA-approved (Drugs@FDA), with the earliest approval on the FDA's record and its label's own words, because a device carrying an approved drug is a drug or drug-device combination question first.

The European Commission's medical device database. It confirms that a substance a health product carries is an approved drug wherever the FDA or the EU list does not.
